How did you know your gown was "the one"?
“Something White was my very first appointment, so finding "the one" almost immediately made me nervous. What if there was something better out there? I had two more appointments that day, so I left and kept looking. But I was comparing every dress I tried on after that to "my dress". (advice to future brides: if you're already calling it "my dress" in your head, just get it.) Finally I told my mom and best friend I wanted to go back to Something White and they both started jumping up and down—they'd been thinking the same thing the whole time. We went back that afternoon and I said yes to the dress!”
How did the two of you meet?
“We met on Hinge, but it's crazy we didn't meet before then. About an hour into our first date we realized how many missed connections we had over the years. Turns out he grew up with my best friend from college (the bridesmaid in the blue dress) and we lived in the same freshman dorm in college - just one floor away! The more we talked, the more obvious it became that we were meant to meet eventually. Just needed to get the timing right!”
What was one of your favorite moments from your wedding day?
“Our private vows were so special. I'm not a great public speaker and I loved being able to say what we really wanted to say to each other without an audience. That moment felt like our real wedding - just for us.”
How did the proposal happen?
“We were about to leave for a trip to Hawaii, and I had convinced myself he was going to propose on the beach or at sunset or some other predictably romantic Hawaiian setting. But as I was walking to the car he said my name and when I turned around, he was down on one knee. He proposed right there in our walkway, and our Ring camera captured the whole thing! He said he couldn't wait until Hawaii. It was perfectly "us".”
Where did you draw your inspiration/ideas from?
“I kept calling our theme "antique spring". I wanted a moodier take on spring, not the bright pastels everyone expects. The color palette inspiration came from antique hydrangeas - those soft, muted tones that feel moody & romantic. I also love the European garden aesthetic and the moment we saw the Avent I knew it was the one. We wanted the day to feel elegant, but not stuffy - a mix of class & comfort. We served fine wine & Busch Light at the bar and Chipotle on beautiful china plates, which pretty much sums up our vibe.”
Congratulations to the Scotts!
Every detail of your day was absolutely perfect. We’re wishing you so much happiness together in your next chapter!
