Congratulations — you’re engaged! One of the most exciting moments in your wedding planning journey is shopping for the dress. Whether you’ve dreamed about this day since you were little or you’re just starting to explore what you like, your first bridal appointment is a special experience you’ll never forget.

If you’re feeling a mix of excitement and nerves about what to expect, don’t worry — we’ve got you covered! Here’s a little behind-the-scenes look at what typically happens during a bridal gown appointment so you can walk in feeling confident, relaxed, and ready to find your dream dress.

1 | Book your Appointment

Something White Bridal Boutique is by appointment only so we can give you personalized attention and a dedicated fitting space. You’ll want to book ahead — especially if you have a particular date or weekend in mind.

When you schedule, you’ll be asked a few details:

• Your wedding date

• Dress budget

• Style inspirations (if you have any)

• Typical jean size

• Whether you’ll be bringing guests

This helps your stylist get a head start brainstorming and pulling looks you’ll love. You can pre-shop your appointment as well by browsing our Pinterest page which we always keep up to date with every gown in the boutique.

2 | Arrive + Meet your Stylist

When you arrive, you’ll be greeted by your bridal stylist — your new wedding BFF for the day (+ if you’re lucky you may get to meet our shop dog and head of HR, Lard!). They’ll chat with you about your vision, what you’re drawn to, and how you want to feel on your big day.

Don’t worry if you don’t have all the answers yet — it’s totally normal to figure it out as you go!

3 | Browse + Select Gowns

Based on your preferences, your stylist will begin selecting gowns for you to try. Depending on factors like your wedding date, budget, and the style direction you’re envisioning, your stylist may also invite you to browse our racks and pin a few dresses that catch your eye.

This collaborative approach helps us get a better sense of what you’re drawn to, and you might surprise yourself with what you fall in love with!

No matter how you start, trust your stylist — they’re pros at picking gowns you might not have reached for yourself but will absolutely love once you put them on.

4 | Try on, Twirl, + Narrow it Down

Here’s where the magic happens! You’ll step into dresses one by one with the help of your stylist, who knows all the tricks to get you zipped, clipped, and styled just right.

Take your time in each gown — look at yourself from all angles, walk around, sit down, and imagine it on your wedding day. Don’t be afraid to speak up about what you love or don’t — it helps narrow down the selection to the ones that truly make you feel like you.

5 | Guest Reactions + Opinions

If you’ve brought family or friends, get ready for a few opinions! It’s great to have loved ones there to cheer you on, but remember — this is your dress. Choose the one that makes your heart skip a beat.

Tip: Keep your guest list small. We allow up to 6 guests during our appointments for a more intimate, stress-free experience.

6 | Say Yes! (or Not Yet!)

Sometimes, brides find their dress in the first appointment — and sometimes it takes a second visit. Both are perfectly okay!

If you do find the one, don’t be afraid to say yes! It’s a special moment, and your stylist (and your crew) will be there to celebrate with you. From there, we’ll take your measurements, review customization options, and place your order.

If you’re not quite ready, that’s completely fine too. Your stylist can make notes of your favorites and help you plan your next steps when you’re ready.

A Few Helpful Tips:

• Wear nude, seamless undergarments for the best look in any gown.

• Minimal makeup is appreciated to keep dresses clean.

• Bring inspo photos or a Pinterest board if you have one.

• Eat a meal or snack before your appointment. Trying on gowns is more physical than most

  brides expect, and you’ll want to feel energized and comfortable (not hangry!) while you shop.

• Be open-minded — you might fall in love with something unexpected!
