Hoe did the two of you meet?

“Josh and I met years ago when my MOH started dating her now husband. Josh was friends with her now husband, Ben. We met at a get-together - I don't remember him but he remembers meeting me. Our friend group got together a few times each year so we always were around one another, but always dating other people. We all were having a weekend getaway at a friend's cabin. Josh ended up getting burned by coolant being sprayed on him from an ATV. I am a nurse so I helped care for him and his burns. We talked for the first time that weekend. About a month and a half later we went to Top Golf, again as a friend group. Josh made it a point to talk to me. Later we all were sending pictures in the big group message and Josh decided then was a good time to try to shoot his shot. I corrected his grammar in the group message…from there we started texting. He asked me on a date a couple weeks later. He even met my parents on our first date since I was living at home going to nursing school.”

How did the proposal happen?

“Josh recruited my best friend and MOH, Morgan to help plan the perfect weekend. The Lake of the Ozarks is my favorite place, and I love the view of the lake from my Uncle's lake house. I was so surprised. My mom told me we were trying a fancy restaurant at the lake on Friday evening, that way I would wear something nice. I never wear nice clothes to the lake, you can find me in a swimsuit or shorts usually. On the drive to the lake that weekend I even wore shorts and a t-shirt and changed into a dress in the car. I think this gave Josh a little heart attack as it was a hitch in his plans. We arrived at my Uncle's lake house - my mom texted me earlier to say they were in the back having a drink. When we parked I didn't think anything of heading straight to the back patio pool area. When we rounded the corner our favorite song was playing and decorations were set up. Josh proposed to me at sunset with the view of the lake behind us. All of our close friends and family were hiding on the screened in porch above watching the whole thing. I was shocked! He even had a photographer there (who did our wedding as well). Safe to say he did SO GOOD!”

What made you decide to get married on this particular date?

We wanted a quicker engagement and April 16th was the first date that was available. All our friend group got married within this last year (it's been so fun doing life together), so we squeezed our day in between two other couples’ weddings. It was amazing how everything fell into place from our venue to photographer and more!”

What advice would you give to other brides regarding dress shopping?

“Don't have your mind set on something particular. Go in with an open mind. The dress I ended up with I would not have chosen off the rack, but I am so glad Carly pulled it for me!”

Did you have a specific theme in mind while planning?

“All the neutrals. I wanted something that was classic and timeless.”

Where did you draw your inspiration and ideas from?

"I work for Nellie Sparkman on the side - I do day-of coordination with her! I have done this for over five years. It's my fun job when I am not working at the hospital. I drew my inspiration from many of our past brides and took little things I loved from each wedding and incorporated those details into our day. From our head table linen to custom koozies for the bridal party on the trolley, all were inspiration taken from various weddings I have helped with.”

What was one of your favorite moments from your wedding day?

“The first looks, both with my dad and with Josh!”

How did you know your gown was “the one”?

“It felt like me, as cheesy as that sounds. The dress fit my personality. It was unique but not over the top! If I could wear it everyday, I would!”

Here’s to Mr. + Mrs. Srna!

Wishing you both the sweetest forever!
